The Community Education Foundation has established the Gold Star Fund to provide opportunities for individuals, businesses, and organizations to invest in the success of our community’s children. In the effort to raise community awareness of and financial support for programs that are not funded by tax dollars, the Community Education Foundation actively solicits community support for the projects of the Gold Star Fund.

The first initiative of the Gold Star Fund was to create a classroom grant program for teacher-initiated projects that would not ordinarily be funded by the school budget. Eleven classroom grants, totaling $5000 were awarded in 2000 to very deserving projects. These classroom grants recognize staff members’ dedicated efforts on behalf of students.

The Foundation has worked with donors to establish several scholarships for students in the Council Bluffs Community School District.

Abraham Lincoln High School Hall of Fame Scholarship-designated for A.L. graduating seniors who are members of the National Honor Society; Renewable for up to five years. Hall of Fame members and former A.L. National Honor Society members are welcome to contribute to this scholarship fund.

Stuart C. and Martha E. Currie Scholarship Fund-designated for A.L. and T.J. graduating seniors pursing further post-secondary education.

Dick Schoeppner Memorial Scholarship-designated for A.L. graduating seniors pursuing a two-year trade or technical degree.

Let the Community Education Foundation help you create the perfect project that will benefit the most students in the community. The Foundation is the recognized vehicle for providing opportunities for donors to invest in the success of students and families in the Council Bluffs Community School District. For more than 10 years, the Foundation has demonstrated its ability to responsibly manage innovative programs and financial resources to meet needs.

The Community Education Foundation invites you to make an investment in the success of our community’s children. When making contributions to the Foundation, donors may designate the funds for a specific purpose-perhaps a classroom grant, student scholarship, staff development program or facility enhancement. Donors may also contribute “undesignated” funds for use on a future project of the Foundation.

Once a donation is received, the Foundation’s administrative staff works with the school district to implement the project. The Foundation also works with the donor or designee to provide all necessary documentation. The Foundation does not charge an administrative fee for its services.

The Community Education Foundation is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c) (3) organization under the direction of a Board of Directors. All contributions are deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
