The STARS Scholarship Program

Providing A Foundation For Your Future!


Applications for Spring 2014-2015 are completed.  The Summer 2014 scholarship deadline will be posted soon!


The STARS Scholarship provides up to $2000 per year to non-traditional students who are parents wanting to go back to school for a Bachelor's Degree, an Associate's Degree, license or certification.

This scholarship provides money to cover expenses not covered by financial aid or other programs. It may be granted for up to three years (four years for a Bachelor's degree) as long as the student remains full-time and is working on a degree, license or certification.

The STARS Scholarship may be used at Iowa Western Community College, Kaplan University, EQ School of Hair Design, Metropolitan Community College, ITT Tech, UNO, Buena Vista University, Bellevue University, Clarkson College, College of St. Mary's and other schools offering a minimum one year program.

The STARS Scholarship Program is generously funded by the Iowa West Foundation and administered by the CB Community Education Foundation.

STARS Program Director

Brenda J. Moran has joined the foundation as the new program director for the STARS Scholarship program.


Brenda holds a Ph.D. in Human Services from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, NE, a Master's in Ministry from Creighton University, Omaha, NE and a Bachelor's in Communications from the University of New Hampshire, Durham, NH. She is currently working on her Certified Public Manager Certificate from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.


Brenda is a long-time champion of educational success. She has over 15 years experience managing educational programs. She has worked for St. Albert Catholic Schools as a Campus Minister, educator and experiential/service learning coordinator and Creighton University as a career and academic advisor.
